On January 31, 2023 the first LGBTQIA+ Leadership Roundtable was held to determine how to move the queer community forward after the abrupt closing of Stonewall Warehouse, which had been the only specifically LGBTQIA+ inclusive business in Hays County. These meetings led to the development of the San Marcos Queer Council which is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as defined in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
The purposes are to:
To foster a sense of belonging and wellbeing for all LGBTQIA2S+ people in San Marcos.
To facilitate peer-led, affirming, inclusive, and educational events and spaces for the queer community and allies.
To create a community and space for all queer people and allies to be themselves and feel empowered.
Maintain a community space funding the organization located in San Marcos, Texas within Hays County. The space will be managed through the efforts of volunteers, staff, and support of the Board of Directors.
